Koumbit vous invite à une présentation/discussion sur le logiciel libre en tant que mouvement social, à l'occasion 5@7, le vendredi 4 mars.
En regardant les événements entourant Wikileaks et le groupe Anonymous ces derniers mois, on peut se demander si nous assistons à l'émergence d'un nouveau mouvement social et politique.
D'abord intéressé par l'informatique et le logiciel libre, ce mouvement semble se répandre dans plus en plus de domaines: connaissance (wikipédia), industrie culturelle (torrents), science (creative commons), défense de l'intérêt public et de la vie privée (Electronic Frontier Foundation),et, avec Wikileaks, au journalisme, à la gestion de l'État et au perfectionnement de la démocratie. Ce mouvement serait-il en voie de devenir un interlocuteur d'importance, au même titre que le mouvement écologiste, syndical ou féministe? Sinon, que faudrait-il pour y parvenir? Comment approfondir les liens entre le mouvement du libre (si c'est bien ainsi qu'il faut l'appeler) et les autres mouvements sociaux?
Suite à une présentation d'Antoine Beaupré, analyste et hacker chez Koumbit, et de Philippe de Grosbois, enseignant en sociologie au Collège Ahuntsic et collaborateur à la revue À Babord, nous tiendrons une discussion sur les enjeux de ce nouvel univers.
Vous êtes donc tous invités à nous joindre au Bar Populaire, à partir de 17h le vendredi 4 mars, pour une bonne bière et une bonne discussion. Le Bar Populaire est situé au 6584, boulevard St-Laurent, à quelques rues du métro Beaubien.

On Friday, March 4th, Koumbit will be presenting a '5@7' presentation and discussion about free and open source software as a social movement.
Recent events surrounding Wikileaks and the hacker group 'Anonymous' have caused some people to discuss whether a new social and political movement is emerging.
At first glance, this movement seems to be mainly formed around free and open source software. However, it seems to spreading into more and more areas:
- knowledge (ex. Wikipedia)
- the cultural industry (ex. torrents)
- science (ex. Creative Commons)
- issues of privacy and public interest in the digital era (ex. the Electronic Frontier Foundation)
- journalism and the legitimacy of state secrecy (ex. Wikileaks)
Is this movement on its way to becoming an important actor, like environmental, feminist and labour movements? If not, what will it take for it to reach this point? And how can links be strengthened between this free and open source movement (whatever one might call it) and other social movements?
Two speakers will make presentations, in order to stimulate our discussions. The speakers are Antoine Beaupré, analyst and hacker at Koumbit, and Philippe de Grosbois, professor of sociology at Collège Ahuntsic and regular collaborator of À Babord magazine. (Presentations will be in French.)
