“The documents filed by the RCMP are a complete vindication of our position” said Andrew MacDougall, Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s director of communications.
“I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again,” continued MacDougall. “No funds were used. Conservative Party funds are never used to pay bogus expenses like those of Senator Duffy if they exceed $32,000. That’s just too rich for our blood. For that kind of cash, Senator Duffy would have to ask for reimbursement from our secret PMO slush fu-, I mean, his friend Nigel Wright.”

* Note from the author: This article is satire, although not really that far from the truth when you think about it. The RCMP documents do in fact allege that the Conservative Party of Canada had planned to repay Duffy’s expenses when they were thought to amount to $32,000. But party officials balked when the price tag was revealed to be $90,000. The expenses were repaid by then PMO chief Nigel Wright who at the time controlled a secret Conservative Party slush fund. That fund could have been used to reimburse Mr. Wright at a later date at a later date had the matter blown over as planned.
