On Tuesday, February 25th, members of Demilitarize McGill blocked access to McGill's Shock Wave Physics Group laboratories, as an act of opposition to military research at McGill. Demilitarize McGill is a campaign organized by students and community members hoping to interrupt McGill University's history of complicity in war and colonialist violence by ending military research at the institution. CKUT's Amelie Philipson spoke with some of the members about this action, and also about their ongoing research concerning military research and military funding of labs at McGill University. This report aired on CKUT's news program Off the Hour on Friday, February 28th.
