In the context of the recent release of Duets for Abdelrazik, a musical project expressing solidarity with Abousfian Abdelrazik, the Howl! Arts Collective and CKUT invite you to join us for a panel discussion reflecting on the significance of Abdelrazik’s struggle for justice.
Canada’s Conservative government, and previous Liberal governments, are directly responsible for the incredible injustice forced on Abdelrazik; torture, exile, and extended imprisonment without charge or access to a lawyer. Abdelrazik’s story is an inspiring tale of resistance to injustice, sounding the alarm on the increasing normalization of torture in the Canadian political landscape while pointing to the possibility of collective action to confront this reality.
Join us for a community reflection on Abdelrazik’s case in the context of the recent release of Duets for Abdelrazik.

Abousfian Abdelrazik
Abdelrazik is a torture survivor of racist national security agenda in Canada, now living in Montreal. Imprisoned in Sudan without charge in 2003, tortured by the Sudanese government and accused without evidence by the Canadian government, Abdelrazik now continues to fight for justice.

Dolores Chew
Dolores helped found the South Asian Women’s Community Centre (SAWCC) in Montreal over 30 years ago. She is currently the president of the organization. She also teaches history and humanities at Marianopolis college. In June, 2011, Dolores participated in a delegation to the United Nations, as part of the grassroots campaign to support Abdelrazik’s five-year struggle to be removed from the Security Council’s “1267” blacklist, a campaign that came to an end in December, 2011 when Abdelrazik was cleared from the list.
Stefan Christoff
Stefan is a Montreal based writer, community organizer and musician. In June, 2012, Stefan launched Duets for Abdelrazik recording project in collaboration with the Howl! arts collective, a project inspired by Abdelrazik’s struggle for justice and participating in the Project Fly Home campaign.
