Beaucoup d'entre nous avons entendu parlé. On a pu les voir à la télé, sur
internet, dans des clips videos d'artistes se revendiquant de l'esthétique
des gangs de rue. Mais qui sont-ils vraiment? d'où viennent-ils? Par cet
atelier informatif nous allons entrer dans l'univers des gangs. De ce
fait, deux videos vous seront présentés; l'un est un video enregistré par
un membre de T.R.G. et l'autre "Crips and Bloods - Made in America"
documentaire réalisé par Stacy Peralta.
Loin des reportages et documentaires à sensation. Nous allons suivre le
parcours et recueillir le témoignage de membres de T.R.G. qui relatent
leur séjour en prison et leur déportation au Cambodge. Par la suite, un
documentaire sur les deux gangs les plus notoires aux État-Unis. Triste
regard sur la situation social de cette époque jusqu'à l'arrivée des
premiers Crips aux État-Unis. Touchant et enragant, allons voir maintenant
si ces jeunes sont si différents de nous! Ah oui! Petite discussion à la
fin de la projection? ça vous dit!

Workshop: Street gangs; the new scape goat

We've all heard about it, saw them on tv, on the web and in music
videos. But who are they really? Where do they come from? In this
educational workshop; we will introduce you to the world of street gang
culture.
Two films will be presented; an homemade film by the TRG street gang and
the documentary «Crips and Bloods-made in America»; a Stacy Peralta film.
Far from sensationalist docs and news reports, the first film follows
the journey of the TRG gang members in prison and their deportation to
Cambodia, as told by themselves. The second doc is about the two most
widely known gangs in United State history. A sad look at the social
decline that brought the first Crips. Both touching and revolting, we
will ask ourselves if that youth is that different from us!
And what about a little discussion after the films?
