Ce film documente la vie de l'ex prisonnière politique américaine Silvia
Baraldini. Arrivée au États-Unis au plus fort du mouvement pour les
droits civils, elle grandi dans un pays qui brûle par ses propre
prémisses. Dans les années 1970, alors que des centaines de gens
politiquement éveillés se replient vers le confort de la société
américaine, Silvia approfondi sont engagement aux luttes
révolutionnaires et ani-impérialistes.
Après 15 ans d'activisme aux États-Unis, elle est arrêtée par le F.B.I.
En 1982 et condamnée à 43 ans de prison. Elle reçu une sentence de 40
ans pour avoir participé à l'évasion d'Assata Shakur. Elle reçu une
sentence supplémentaire d'outrage au tribunal pour avoir refusé de
répondre au questions du Grand Jury concernant l'enquête sur le Mouvement
d'indépendance de Puerto Rico. Ce film représente se version de
l'histoire.

Film Screening and Discussion of Freeing Silvia Baraldini (2009)

This film documents the life of former U.S. political prisoner Silvia
Baraldini. Silvia moved to the U.S. in the 1960's at the height of the
Civil Rights Movement and came of age in a country burning in its own
promise. In the 1970's when hundreds of politically minded people folded
back into the comforts of American society, Silvia deepened her
commitment to revolutionary anti-imperialist struggle.
After 15 years as an activist in the United States, she was arrested by
the FBI in 1982 and sentenced to 43 years in prison. She was given a
40-year prison sentence for helping to free former Black Panther Assata
Shakur from prison. She was additionally charged with criminal contempt
of court for refusing to answer questions to a Grand Jury investigating
the Puerto Rican Independence Movement and given another three years.
