Visionnement de Carandiru
Carandiru est un film brésilien et argentin de Héctor Babenco sorti en
2003, adapté du best-seller de Drauzio Varella intitulé Carandiru Station,
lui-même inspiré de faits réels.
La prison de Carandiru, à São Paulo, est la plus grande d'Amérique latine.
C'est en ce lieu qu'un médecin célèbre décide de mener un programme de
prévention contre le sida. C'est alors qu'il se met à découvrir peu à peu
la véritable personnalité des prisonniers, en particulier leur humanité et
leur soif de vivre. Il parvient à gagner leur respect et leur amitié.
C'est à travers le regard de ce médecin que l'on observe le véritable
drame social du Brésil qui a mené à l'atroce massacre de Carandiru.

Film screening of Carandiru
A fictionalized account of the execution of over one hundred prisoners to
quell the riot which shook the greatest prison in Latin America in 1992.
The histories and daily lives of prisoners are revealed through the
narrative of a doctor doing AIDS prevention work in this prison housing
double its capacity.
