ANARCHISTES CONTRE LA DÉMOCRATIE

La démocratie est, à la base, un concept autoritaire. Pourtant, plusieurs facettes de nos sociétés incorporent sa mythologie et idéalisent sa morale. Faisant partie d'une structure que nous combattons, nous ne pouvons être simplement contre la démocratie. Nous avons besoin de stratégies et de techniques praticables pour démontrer son non-sens.

Au Québec, le spectacle de la campagne électorale et l'absence de démocratie directe dans les assemblées générales des cégeps ont affectés considérablement la lutte contre le système capitaliste locale.

Cette discussion tentera d’analyser les efforts récents des anarchistes pour s'opposer à la démocratie et sa pertinence dans un futur à long terme. Nous essaierons d’explorer les possibilités de contrer l'hégémonie du mythe et de l'idéologie démocratiques tout en faisant la promotion de nos idéaux. Nous discuterons aussi de comment prendre des décisions ensemble?

ANARCHISTS AGAINST DEMOCRACY

Democracy is an authoritarian concept to the core, but many parts of our society are fundamentally informed by the idea, the mythology that surrounds it, and the ideologies that lionize it. Democracy is part of the landscape in which we are fighting, and therefore we cannot simply be against it--we need a strategy and a practicable technique for destroying it or rendering it irrelevant.

In Québec, we have just seen how the spectacle of a general election campaign and the failure of directly democratic processes in cégeps to uphold strike mandates have interfered with the déroulement of the struggle against capitalism here.

This discussion will focus on anarchist efforts to oppose democracy recently and in the long-term future, as well as how to counter the hegemony of democratic myth and ideology while promoting our own ideas of how to make decisions together.
