Howl! arts collective presents a concert featuring all women artists from Montreal and New York City. Join us for the fourth concert in our ongoing series, an intimate show at La Sala Rossa presenting celebrated NYC-based cellist Julia Kent, sonic explorations via Montreal-based musician/sound artist Jen Reimer and a performance by Les Momies de Palerme.
featuring:
* Julia Kent
Canadian-born, New York City-based Julia Kent uses multitracked cello, found sounds, and electronics to create solo music that has been described as "cinematic and impressionistic," "organic yet powerful," and "deeply personal and committed." She has released two full-length solo records: Delay (2007) and Green and Grey (2011), as well as an EP, Last Day in July (2010). Her music has been heard in film soundtracks and as accompaniment to theatre and dance performances, and she has toured throughout Europe and North America, including appearances at Primavera Sound in Barcelona, the Donau Festival in Austria, and the MIMI Festival in Marseille. http://www.juliakent.com/
* Jen Reimer
Jen Reimer is a Montreal-based sound artist and multi-instrumentalist. Her work explores sound mass composition and urban soundscape through site-specific creation, improvisation and live performance in public spaces. She received a Bachelor of Music in music performance from the University of Alberta, was an artist in residence at The Banff Centre for the Arts and received a Graduate Diploma in music performance studies from Concordia University, Montreal. Jen has participated in various international festivals including Montreal Highlights Festival, 2nd Annual Performance Art Festival (Athens, GR), Crossing Border Festival (Den Haag, NE), Culture Collide Festival (Los Angeles, CA) and Nuit Sonores (Lyon, FR). She can be heard/seen collaborating and performing with artists and special friends, Gambletron, UN, Max Stein, SCUSI, 3Horns, HRSTA, Zsofia Zambo, Nive Nielsen and Matana Roberts. She is a co-founder of The Noisy Kitchen music school and recording studio. http://www.jenreimer.com/
* Les Momies De Palerme
