(Montreal, PQ) On Friday October 19th, the Family of Tibor Baranyai will be meeting in front of Foyer Hongrois (2555 Lionel Groulx at Atwater) to say goodbye to his wife Ildiko Dellamario and her teenage daughter. Ildiko Dellamario and Ildiko Nagy are being deported today to their native Hungary. In a cruel and ironic twist, The Federal Government continues to celebrate Tibor Branayal's actions that lead to what the Federal Government calls 'one of the largest human trafficking cases in Canadian history'.

In 2010 Tibor's cooperation with Federal authorities lead to the successful conviction of a criminal syndicate that exploited Tibor and 18 other Eastern European men. Confined to living under cramp conditions, working without pay and facing the constant threats of death, Tibor played an active in role in ending the exploitative conditions that he and his fellow co-workers faced. In starting a new life in Canada, Tibor fell in love with Ildilko and married her. Over the past year, Ildiko has been the primary caregiver of Mr. Baranyai who suffers a heart condition, insomnia and mental stress as a result of his experiences in Canada

In a translated statement released by the family, Mr. Baranyai says "I want to say that I feel used. The traffickers used me for my labour, Canada used me as a witness to get a prosecution…But both Canada and the traffickers would deny me the basic thing I need as a human – to be loved, to love, and be supported by a family that I can see and touch. You would deny those I love safety.”

The community and the media are being asked to be present when Ildiko and her daughter are to be deported. The family will meet in front of Foyer Hongrais (2555 Lionel Groulx at Atwater) and then proceed to Pierre Elliot Trudeau International Airport, Montreal PQ Where Idilko and her daughter will be deported

This is yet another example of how the Federal Conservatives emphasizes a law and order approach to Canada’s immigration system.  Rather than treat this family with compassion and decency the Conservatives are consistent in treating would be immigrants as criminals. These actions are mean spirited and inhumane.
