CKUT's Off the Hour: RAP THE NEWS with Monk. E

CKUT News celebrates 25 Years Strong on the air with hip hop and spoken word poets

by CKUT Community News Collective

CKUT's Off the Hour: RAP THE NEWS with Monk. E

This piece was originally aired on CKUT's Off the Hour on Friday, October 26th, 17h-18h.

CKUT's Community News Collective is inviting Montreal's greatest hip hop artists and spoken word poets to come and RAP THE NEWS. We are celebrating CKUT's 25 years on the air & the annual Funding Drive.

CKUT correspondent Nicole speaks to Monk-e, a freestyle poet, MC and visual artist based in Montreal. She caught him on the intersection of Marion and Buillon, where one of his newest graffiti pieces can be found. Monk-e speaks to us on the importance of art as a form of media in expressing ideas and tells us about his other graffiti piece on Bernard and St. Laurent, created on a big pillar. He also gives us a sweet interlude to his upcoming album: by wrapping a verse.   All sound in the piece is from local producer Swamp Wolf.

This is the one time of the year we ask you to donate to help keep independent, community-based, volunteer driven, daily one air news program, Off the Hour and the radio station behind it.
