CKUT spoke with Joel Pedneault from Tuition Truth which is a campaign of the Students Society of McGill University and the Professional and Graduate Student Society. In the 1960s students paid less than $600 to attend university. By 2017 rates are expected to be close to $4000. Advocates for freezing or capping tuitions say these increases will make education much less accessible to potential students from lower incomes and see education as a right. Jean Charest's government brought an end to Quebec's post-secondary education tuition fee freeze. Ultimately, this tuition fee increase means less acsess to higher education for lower and middle-class families.

This interview originally aired on CKUT's Off the Hour on August 30th,17h-18h.
