Listen to a report on the Montreal protest against the 2011 G20 summit in France. Hundreds gathered in downtown Montreal to voice opposition to the G20 as an unaccountable financial institution rooted in neo-liberal economics that have lead to the current financial crisis internationally. In this report you will hear sounds from the streets and also an interview with Immigrant Workers Centre activist Tess Tesalona and sounds from the street protest.
G20 protests in Montreal hold particular importance given the G20 summit in Toronto in 2010 that saw over 1000 people arrested in the largest arrest in Canadian history. Also at this time the G20 protest is particular important given the 'occupy' protest camps globally againts economic injustice, the Montreal protest stopped at the Occupy Montreal protest camp to express solidarity.
