CKUT Community News - Reflections on Hugo Chavez, President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela
by CKUT Community News Collective
March 5 marked the death of Hugo Chavez, President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. Hours after his passing, CKUT invited perspectives from Rufo Valencia, Montreal Latin American reporter, Camilo Cahis, member of the Toronto Bolivarian Circle and Ricardo Meneces, CKUT's Chile correspondent.
As people in the streets of Caracas chant "Chavez Lives", we ask, what did his life mean? What is the legend of Hugo Chavez, the man oft described as larger-than-life? What lies ahead for Venezuela and the growing progressive movement in South America that Chavez was central to? And how is North America responding to the news?
Originally aired on CKUT's Wednesday Morning After, 7-9am, March 6.
